Competitive Online Multiplayer chaos… Fourteen Years in the Making

Onimo is a free-to-play online multiplayer game that one of our founders conceived accidentally fourteen years ago as part of a challenge to himself; make a game without any graphics assets, just geometry drawn with code. The result was a 1v1 arena elimination type game against an AI opponent. The game, in this state, was loaded onto a phone and passed around for testing. In every test case, the biggest challenge was getting people to give the phone back; everyone insisted on “one more game”.
The trouble with this version of the game was hard to ignore: the charm of a single AI opponent would wear out fast.
Several ‘prototype’ versions followed in the fourteen years between then and now, each one a ‘proof-of-concept’ with local multiplayer. The concept worked and people enjoyed playing the game, but local multiplayer just wouldn’t be enough. The game needed a developer who could handle the networking side of the game.

2026 – The Year Of The Onimo
This year marks the first real meaningful push to make Onimo happen. Years of learning, trial and error, and more than a little stress, and the first online version of Onimo exists.
The game currently has one server, based in London, England. Players from the UK and Western Europe can jump into the game right now and test the game with us.
